Pictured below was the first Harold Long School of Karate in Tennessee. The dojo located at the Marine Reserve Center on Alcoa Highway in Knoxville, opened in November 1960. It operated at this location until September 1961, when the dojo was moved to the Old Knoxville High School. Some of the students at this first dojo who later became black belts include Jack Daniel, Harold Nuchols, and Jeb Bagshaw. A new building was constructed for the Marine Reserve Center and this structure was demolished in 2006. A volleyball court now stands in its place.

Below is from 5th Avenue dojo. The black and white photograph was taken around 1968-69. The 5th Avenue dojo opened in the summer of 1965.
